Comprised of four thoughtfully designed greenspaces on Fort Lauderdale’s barrier island, the Las Olas Oceanside Parks System (a.k.a. The LOOP) offers residents and visitors a year-round calendar of events with some of the city’s best views. Las Olas Oceanside Park, Las Olas Intracoastal Promenade Park, The Sunset Terrace at the Las Olas Beach Garage, and DC Alexander Park each have their own special features, and all are within walking distance of each other.
Completed in October 2019 as part of a $78 million revitalization plan encompassing other parts of the local greenspaces, Las Olas Oceanside Park hosts a Farmers, Antiques and Artisan Market every Saturday, Yoga on the Lawn classes every week, and special events including cooking demonstrations, collaborative art projects, and live music performances. Steps away, DC Alexander Park has a playground for kids.
The showstopper of the LOOP has to be the Las Olas Beach Garage and its Sunset Terrace. Designed by award-winning architectural firm EDSA, the parking garage is wrapped in programmable LED lighting that presents a stunning show of light and color, especially to those crossing the bridge from the mainland. Atop this statement piece of architecture, The Sunset Terrace is an event space surrounded in panoramic views encompassing the city skyline and the Intracoastal Waterway.
