A $70 MILLION MARINA FOR THE YACHTING CAPITAL OF THE WORLD
Known as the Yachting Capital of the World and the Venice of America, Fort Lauderdale is a magnet for anyone who loves to be on the water. The new Las Olas Marina, approved in July 2019 by a unanimous vote of the Fort Lauderdale City Commission, will now raise the profile of the city as a boater’s paradise even higher. Located at 151 Las Olas Circle on the Central Beach side of the Intracoastal Waterway, this $70 million project is intended to accommodate the expansion of the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show and will feature 7,000 linear feet of docks with slips big enough to handle mega yachts as well as a 24,000 square foot marina building providing boater services.
More than simply a state-of-the-art facility catering to boating needs, the new and lushly landscaped Las Olas Marina campus will offer signature fine dining restaurants, boutique retail shops, office space, a gym, a swimming pool, and a terrace. As part of the agreement with the city to develop the marina, Suntex Marinas, a highly respected owner-operator of marinas nationwide, will make improvements to the surrounding streetscape, contributing to larger efforts to make Fort Lauderdale more pedestrian-friendly. Indeed, the new Las Olas Marina is part of a $130 million investment the city has made to improve public amenity spaces along the Las Olas Corridor, which provides pedestrian connections from the vibrant shopping-dining Las Olas Boulevard district to the beachfront. The new Las Olas Marina is anticipated to be complete before the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show in October 2022.
